Where to stay in Madrid

Whether you prefer the comfort of a hotel, the flexibility of an apartment, or the local feel of an Airbnb, Madrid has plenty of great options. If you're not sure where to stay, here are three neighborhoods we highly recommend:

Madrid Central, Barrio Salamanca and Chamberí. The shuttle service will be stopping at Plaza de Colón y Nuevos Ministerios, which are closer to Barrio Salamanca and Chamberí.

Madrid Central

  • If you want to be in the middle of everything, this is the spot. Staying around Sol, Gran Vía, or Malasaña means you’ll have easy access to all the main sights, great restaurants, and nightlife. Hotels are the most common option here, but you can also find apartments and Airbnbs tucked away on quieter streets. Just keep in mind that it’s a busy area, so it might not be the most peaceful choice.

Chamberi

  • For a more relaxed, local feel, Chamberí is a fantastic option. It’s a quieter but yet fun, residential neighborhood with beautiful architecture, traditional tapas bars, and a more authentic Madrid atmosphere. You’ll find boutique hotels, charming apartments, and cozy Airbnbs that give you a taste of everyday life in Madrid—without being too far from the action.

Barrio Salamanca

  • This elegant and polished neighborhood is perfect if you're looking for a refined yet lively atmosphere. Known for its wide, tree-lined streets and beautiful architecture, Salamanca offers a quieter, more residential feel while still being full of life. Here, you'll find a great mix of high-end boutiques, stylish cafes, traditional tapas bars, and fantastic restaurants. It’s a great option if you want to stay in a sophisticated area with a vibrant ambiance, all while being well-connected to the rest of the city.
